Lunar Outpost today announced that its Australian subsidiary, Lunar Outpost Oceania, will lead the charge in building Australia’s first lunar rover. The project was awarded to the ELO2 Consortium, co-led by Lunar Outpost Oceania and EPE Oceania.

Lunar Outpost, the industry leader in lunar surface mobility, commercial space robotics, and space resources, today announced it has signed an agreement with SpaceX to deliver Lunar Outpost’s Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV) to the Moon aboard a SpaceX Starship for launch and landing. A leading opportunity for transporting heavy cargo to the lunar surface, this partnership unlocks Lunar Outpost to provide surface mobility to future NASA Artemis astronauts, and to establish critical infrastructure enabling sustainable commercial access to the lunar surface and other strategic locations in space.

Today, Lunar Outpost announced Leidos (NYSELDOS), a Fortune 500® innovation leader, has joined the Lunar Dawn team, led by Lunar Outpost. The two companies will collaborate to develop a human-rated Moon rover as part of NASA’s Lunar Terrain Vehicle Services (LTVS) contract, alongside General Motors (GM), The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and MDA Space.

Lunar Outpost, the industry leader in lunar surface mobility, commercial space robotics and space resources, today announced it has raised a Series A funding round, co-led by Type One Ventures (investor in Argo Space and SpaceX) and Industrious Ventures (investors in Starfish Space, ICON, and Stoke Space). Other notable funds including Promus Ventures also participated. The funding will be used to support Lunar Outpost’s active programs, including its work with NASA’s Lunar Terrain Vehicle Services (LTVS) contract, the Australian Government to progress the country’s space exploration, and the Luxembourg Space Agency to enhance operational viability on the Moon, cislunar space, and extreme conditions on Earth.

Today, Lunar Outpost announced it has established the Lunar Dawn Science Council, naming Arizona State University (ASU) School of Earth and Space Exploration as the lead research organization. The Lunar Dawn team, led by Lunar Outpost, was awarded a Lunar Terrain Vehicle Services (LTVS) contract by NASA in April 2024 and is leading the way by implementing an experienced Science Council to maximize the scientific return of the Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV). This group of vetted, academic and industry professionals will provide input and guidance from the lunar science community to enhance the quality of science generated from the LTV through the 10+ years of operational life on the lunar surface.

Today, Lunar Outpost named Castrol the lead Mission Control Center collaborator for its Lunar Voyage 1 mission. The Mission Control Center will be the primary center of operations and decision-making during Lunar Outpost’s Lunar Voyage 1 (LV1), slated to launch in late 2024.

Today, Minister for Industry and Science, the Hon Ed Husic MP, along with dignitaries from the Australian Space Agency and NASA announced the EPE & Lunar Outpost Oceania Consortium as one of two successful groups to receive Stage 1 grant funding from the Australian Government’s Moon to Mars Trailblazer Initiative. The project received grant funding from the Australian Government through the Australian Space Agency.

Lunar Outpost, a global leader in commercial planetary mobility, today announced a $12 million seed funding round led by Explorer 1 Fund with participation from Promus Ventures, Space Capital, Type One Ventures and Cathexis Ventures. The capital will be used to launch a new class of autonomous lunar rovers, deploy its robotics in additional environments, and invest in new technologies to improve its existing platforms. Explorer 1 Fund’s Daniel Kleinman and Promus Ventures Partner Gareth Keane also joined Lunar Outpost’s Board of Directors.
