New contract focuses on improving aircraft readiness through intelligent maintenance and supply optimization
Tagup, a leading defense AI company advancing mission-critical logistics, today announced a $2.07 million contract funded by the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) Transitions SBIR/STTR Technologies (OTST) program. The new contract will support the U.S. Marine Corps’ Marine Aircraft Group 39 (MAG-39), based out of Camp Pendleton, CA. Over the next 18 months, Tagup’s AI-powered Manifest software suite will optimize supply and maintenance operations to improve aircraft readiness and availability across the unit.
The engagement represents the Marine Corps’ latest push to operationalize artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities to keep pace with the demands of high-tempo, modern warfare. With more than 180 aircraft and thousands of flight hours annually, MAG-39 supports some of the most complex and resource-intensive operations in the service. Yet like many units, it faces growing challenges due to siloed data, manual planning processes, and an aging logistics enterprise.
Tagup’s Manifest platform leverages machine learning to simulate supply and maintenance scenarios, forecast part demand, and provide sustainment recommendations tailored to mission conditions. Manifest layers on top of existing data systems, enabling military logisticians and planners to get more out of their data and make mission-ready decisions in seconds, not hours or days. In previous government engagements, Manifest achieved a 20% reduction in purchasing costs and a 40% decrease in materiel managed without compromising readiness. The Marine Corps continues to see similar improvements as Manifest is deployed across additional units.
“This contract reflects our shared commitment to giving Marines the decision tools they need when speed, accuracy, and adaptability matter most,” said Jon Garrity, CEO of Tagup. “We’re honored to be part of the mission and look forward to helping MAG-39 unlock new logistics capabilities powered by AI.”
Manifest provides commanders and logisticians with intelligent recommendations for inventory, maintenance, and sustainment planning based on real-time and historical data. The platform supports scalable simulations and planning capabilities for evolving operational demands.
As part of this contract, the Manifest system will be configured, integrated, and iteratively tested in partnership with MAG-39 stakeholders. Initial activities will include data integration, user workshops, model training, and evaluation during exercises, with the goal of achieving full operational capability within the next 18 months.
This effort is made possible through funding from OSD’s OTST program, which accelerates the transition of advanced Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer technologies to operational environments.
