Po-En "Brandon" Wang, an internationally recognized 2D/3D motion designer, is expanding the role of motion design as a functional communication system across media, commerce, and spatial computing. His work demonstrates how dimensional movement can help audiences understand complex concepts, interact with digital content, and navigate emerging spatial interfaces more intuitively.

As the boundaries between physical environments, broadcast media, and digital interfaces continue to converge, conventional two-dimensional layouts are becoming less effective at communicating complex information. Wang's work addresses this challenge by treating motion as a spatial language rather than a purely aesthetic element.
Throughout his career, Wang has applied this approach to award-winning design films, interactive sports broadcasts, consumer product campaigns, and wearable computing experiences. His projects have involved translating physical exhibitions into concise digital narratives, integrating animated characters into live sports environments, explaining technical hardware through product visualization, and defining motion behavior for three-dimensional interfaces.
Translating Physical Exhibitions Into Award-Winning Films
Wang developed the foundation of his motion design methodology while working with the Ken-Tsai Lee Design Lab in Taipei. From November 2019 to April 2021, he served as lead 2D/3D motion designer and film director, producing official promotional and case-study films for the studio's physical exhibitions.
Because the exhibitions were geographically limited, international award juries could not always experience them in person. Wang used motion graphics, virtual camera movements, dimensional transitions, and visual sequencing to translate the exhibitions into concise digital films that communicated their central concepts within approximately one minute.
For the "Bauhaus 100: Manifest of Practice in Taiwan" exhibition, Wang animated static architectural grids in Adobe After Effects and transformed the physical gallery into a fast-moving visual explanation.
The project received a Silver Cube in Brand/Communication Design at the 99th ADC Awards in 2020. According to the award figures provided for the project, 160 Silver Cubes were selected from more than 10,000 international entries representing 59 countries. The work also received a 2020 Red Dot Award and two ADC Merit Awards.
Wang later served as film director for the "D&AD Exhibition in Taiwan" project. He developed a three-dimensional visual concept that combined D&AD's recognizable octagonal pencil forms with rendered slices of Taiwanese fruit.
The project received the 2022 Red Dot: Best of the Best distinction in Brand Promotion. It also earned a Bronze Cube and Merit recognition at the 101st ADC Awards.
Bringing Digital Characters Into Live Sports Broadcasting
Wang subsequently applied his motion design experience to broadcast entertainment as television networks explored more interactive ways to engage younger audiences.
From July through September 2024, Wang worked as an animator within Nickelodeon's marketing department. Using Cinema 4D and Adobe After Effects, he designed modular three-dimensional character assets for the reboot of "Dora the Explorer."
The assets were developed for reuse across multiple broadcast and promotional environments and were incorporated into Nickelodeon's internal content library. They were later adapted for programming that included "NFL Slimetime."
Wang continued this work at virtual production studio Silver Spoon from November 2024 through August 2025. There, he produced 3D motion graphics, character layouts, props, and animated performances for the Nickelodeon NFL Wild Card Game 2025, broadcast by CBS Sports and Nickelodeon.
Drawing on his previous experience with Nickelodeon's character animation system, Wang helped composite characters including Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants into live-action stadium environments.
His responsibilities included creating physical and digital props, choreographing character performances in Cinema 4D, and ensuring that the animated elements integrated naturally with live sports footage.
The broadcast subsequently received Sports Emmy nominations for Outstanding Live Event and Outstanding Graphic Design.
Explaining Consumer Hardware Through Product Motion
In October 2024, Wang brought his motion design methodology to a commercial campaign for KISS USA and its Salon X-tend Pro LED Soft Gel System.
Following a summer campaign involving Olympic gold medalist Suni Lee, the beauty brand sought to maintain consumer interest during the competitive fourth-quarter retail period. One challenge involved clearly explaining the product's multi-step at-home curing process and the functionality of its ergonomic LED curing lamp.
As lead 2D/3D motion designer and art director, Wang created a high-fidelity digital representation of the product using Cinema 4D and Redshift. He developed stylized product movements, detailed lighting environments, and motion sequences that demonstrated the hardware's functions within a limited viewing period.
The resulting campaign presented the physical mechanics of the Salon X-tend Pro system in a format designed for rapid consumer understanding. The product campaign supported the brand's presence across major U.S. retailers, including Target, Walmart, and Ulta Beauty.
Developing Motion Systems for Spatial Computing
Since August 2025, Wang has worked as a 2D/3D motion designer at Google in New York, contributing to spatial user experiences for Android XR.
In this environment, motion designs operate as functional prototypes that help engineers, product managers, designers, and executive stakeholders evaluate how virtual elements should behave in three-dimensional space.
Among Wang's contributions is his work on "Glimmer," a foundational visual motion language developed for glasses-based user interfaces. Lightweight smart glasses present limitations related to display area, visibility, processing requirements, and power consumption.
Rather than relying on large, opaque interface backgrounds, the Glimmer system uses controlled light movement and micro-animations to improve text legibility under changing real-world lighting conditions. The approach is designed to make interface information easier to read while reducing dependence on heavy static visual elements.
Wang also designed motion physics and spatial tracking rules for a "following behavior" used on XREAL Aura smart glasses operating on Android XR. The behavior positions a digital screen within the user's line of sight and allows it to follow head movements using controlled damping and spatial response.
The system enables users to reduce the size of a digital window, reposition it, and continue interacting with other physical or virtual elements. Technology reviewer Marques Brownlee, known as MKBHD, highlighted the interface behavior as one of the device's standout features.
To support the design and engineering process, Wang has also used Google Veo and Gemini to develop high-fidelity motion mockups and coded prototypes. These tools allow product teams to evaluate spatial behaviors earlier and provide engineering teams with clearer visual references during implementation.
Across each of these projects, Wang's work has focused on the same underlying objective: using motion to reduce the cognitive distance between complex information and immediate human understanding.
His career illustrates the evolving role of the motion designer-from producing visual effects and promotional content to defining the functional behavior of interfaces that exist within physical space.
