Marquis Who's Who Honors Thierry Vincent Barkley, JD, as a Top Lawyer

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / July 29, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors Thierry Vincent Barkley, JD, as a Top Lawyer. Mr. Barkley, office partner at Gordon Reese Scully Mansukhani LLP, has more than four decades of experience in the legal services industry.

About Mr. Barkley

Mr. Barkley did not originally set out to become an attorney. When he started his academic career, he was enrolled in a pre-architecture program, but he later decided to attend UCLA, where he received a bachelor's degree in political science with minors in history and languages in 1976.

After studying political science, entering the legal field seemed like a more natural fit, so Mr. Barkley chose to attend law school and discovered how captivating and interesting the profession proved to be. He earned a Juris Doctor from the California Western School of Law in 1979 and began his career shortly after.

Now a seasoned trial attorney, Mr. Barkley has an impressive track record and resolves close to 90 percent of his cases before they even go to trial. He has also argued extensively in the appellate court, with several published decisions by the Supreme Court and Ninth Circuit.

Taking on Complex Cases

Mr. Barkley is particularly adept at handling cases involving multiple plaintiffs and challenging circumstances. In the 1980s, he was involved with a case where the children of 64 families were victimized by the owners of a day care. This was followed by an environmental air pollution case related to a construction project involving multiple homes. In Reno, he worked on silicone implant litigation for almost three years, defending Bristol Myers Squibb in 150 plaintiff cases. When a company that manufactured food supplements had poisoning events at two of its facilities and distributed the tainted supplements, Mr. Barkley worked on behalf of the defendants.

"My most recent experience was a four-week trial where I defended a bad faith case where the plaintiff made a $50 million demand. I have had these kinds of experiences, which is why many people contact me with difficult problems. You have to do two things when you're in trial work: you have to learn about the client and understand the practice or business," Mr. Barkley explains.

Success From Support

Mr. Barkley attributes his professional success to the support of his family, who keep him engaged in his personal life. He also acknowledges that he has grown and learned from his interactions with other professionals in his field, including opposing attorneys. He credits his natural skills for keeping him focused on his goals. His excellent memory and his love of writing and debating have kept him motivated throughout his long career.

"I'm not shy about arguing with people. If you're going to do trial work, you need to be able to argue and not get upset if the judge doesn't rule in your favor. You must talk with people, communicate and learn how they respond. And I just work hard," Mr. Barkley says.

Looking ahead, Mr. Barkley intends to travel more, with plans to visit Paris, France, where he was born. He also aims to gradually reduce the volume of his trial work so he can focus on life outside of the courtroom and spend more time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
